SIXTH SENSE TECHNOLOGY
Now a day we are surrounded with lots of techno devices which are mind blowing inventions for humans & by humans. These devices are our life. We cannot imagine our lives without these devices. And what can I say about technology which is used in these devices!!!! I would like to share some words about latest technology called “SIXTH SENSE TECHNOLOGY”.
As we know that a human being are using five senses: that are eyes, ears, nose, tongue, mind & body to perceive information & perform actions. But today a new technology sixth sense technology helps perform this type of action easily. Sixth sense technology is interacts the physical world with digital information. It tries to combine the real & the digital world which today exist as two separate but equally important entities. Sixth sense technology is a technology that can be used to take the real world object into digital world with minimum effort & higher accuracy. It also contains a pocket projector, a mirror and a camera contained in a head-mounted, handheld or pendant-like, wearable device. Both the projector and the camera are connected to a mobile computing device in the user’s pocket. The projector projects visual information enabling surfaces, walls and physical objects around us to be used as interfaces; while the camera recognizes and tracks users’ hand gestures and physical objects using computer-vision based techniques. The software program processes the video stream data captured by the camera and tracks the locations of the colored markers at the tips of the user’s fingers. The movements and arrangements of these fiducials are interpreted into gestures that act as interaction instructions for the projected application interfaces. Sixth Sense supports multi-touch and multi-user interaction. This combined device works together. Some applications of this device are, the projector displaying a map on the wall, and the user controlling it using zoom and pan gestures. Four colored cursors are controlled by four fingers wearing different colored markers in real time. The projector displays video feedback to the user on a vertical wall. A number pad is projected onto the user’s palm, and the user can dial a phone number by touching his palm with a finger. It was hinted that the system is able to pin point the location of the palm, and that the camera and projector are able to adjust themselves for surfaces that are not horizontal. The user can pick up a product in supermarket and the system could display related product information, back of the product itself. The user can make a frame gesture to instruct the camera take a picture. It is hinted that the photo will be automatically cropped to remove the user’s hands. The Sixth Sense system also augments physical objects the user is interacting with by projecting more information about these objects projected on them. For example, a newspaper can show live video news or dynamic information can be provided on a regular piece of paper. The gesture of drawing a circle on the user’s wrist projects an analog watch.
Sixth sense technology has seamless applications. Sixth sense recognizes wide varieties of gestures, it can easily interact with different everyday objects .It can always be expected that this technology has a bright future because it might bring a change in the way we look at the world .It can really create a magic . It can also connect the real world with the Internet which is certainly a novel application & can thus be a great source of information for the world itself. Therefore it can always be claimed that this device has a long way to go in the near future.
